Set Up an SMS Account

Last updated: June 19, 2026

VenueSumo integrates with SMSGlobal for SMS delivery. Your SMSGlobal account is set up for you by your VenueSumo account manager, we recommend this over creating a standalone account directly with SMSGlobal.

Why set up through VenueSumo?

VenueSumo clients are set up as sub-accounts under our master SMSGlobal account. This gives you access to a preferential SMS rate well below the standard public pricing, at no extra cost to you. If you create your own standalone SMSGlobal account independently, you will be billed at the standard retail rate and will not be eligible for the discounted rate.

Getting started

Contact your VenueSumo account manager to get your SMSGlobal account set up. Once live, you will receive your login credentials by email. Log in at mxt.smsglobal.com to manage your account, purchase credits, and view your SMS history.

Purchasing credits

SMS messaging uses a prepaid credit system. Credits are deducted as messages are sent, there is no monthly platform fee and unused credits roll over. To purchase credits, log in to mxt.smsglobal.com and go to Credit Purchase in the left-hand menu.

Automatic top-up

To avoid messages failing mid-send, we recommend enabling the auto top-up feature in MXT. You can set a balance threshold that triggers an automatic top-up — for example, when your balance drops below $150 AUD / $100 USD, MXT will automatically add $150 AUD / $125 USD. This keeps your account funded without needing to manually monitor your balance.

To set it up: log in to mxt.smsglobal.com, go to Credit Purchase, and enable Balance Threshold auto top-up.

Multi-location venues

Speak to your account manager to confirm the right setup for your venue.

Sender identity

To display your venue name instead of a random number on customers’ phones, you will need to register a sender identity for your region. Your account manager will guide you through this process once your account is set up.

Australia — Sender ID registration

Australian venues can use an alphanumeric Sender ID (your venue name) in place of a phone number. Sender IDs must be registered with the ACMA (Australian Communications and Media Authority) or messages will display as “Unverified” to recipients. Registration is a one-off process managed through SMSGlobal on your behalf. The authorised representative for your ABN will need to verify their identity via myID as part of the process. Your account manager will provide step-by-step instructions.

United States — 10DLC registration

US venues are required by carriers to register a 10DLC (10-digit long code) number before any SMS can be sent. This is not optional, unregistered messages will be filtered or blocked by carriers. Approval takes approximately 14 business days, so your account manager will start this process at the beginning of your onboarding. As part of registration, your venue’s website must have a publicly accessible contact form with SMS-specific opt-in consent language. Your account manager will confirm what’s required. VenueSumo clients receive a discounted rate for their 10DLC submission.
