How to test all Payment Methods with Newbook are working (Charge to Room, Card & Cash)

To ensure VenuSumo's 'Charge to Room', 'Card' & 'Cash' connections with Newbook is working properly, follow these simple steps.


Things you'll need to conduct this test:

  • VenueSumo access to the POS
  • VenueSumo access to Back Office
  • Create a test room reservation in Newbook

How to Test 'Charge to Room' Payment Method:

  1. Launch your POS via the back office or your unique URL.

  1. Log in using your pin code.

  1. Select a test item to purchase and click 'Checkout'.

  1. Click the payment method 'Charge to Room'

  1. Select your test reservation. NOTE: Do not use a real Newbook reservation, please create a test reservation in order to complete this test purchase. Click 'Yes' to confirm test purchase.


Next, open up 'Charges' page Newbook's back office in order to check your 'Charge to Room' purchase.


  1. Identify the 'Charge to Room' purchase. NOTE: 'Charge to Room' will display as 'Unpaid' until the client has finalized their account at the end of their stay.

  1. Click on the Charge #. You can also view the GL account Code to confirm which account in Newbook it is going too.

  1. If you would like to manually change the GL accound code, you can do this by launching VenueSumo's Back office. Settings> Locations> Account Details.


Here you can 'Edit' and select a new sub account.


How to test 'Card' Payment method:


  1. Follow steps 1-3 in "How to Test 'Charge to Room' Payment Method:"


  1. Click the payment method 'Card'


Next, open up 'Charges' page Newbook's back office in order to check your 'Card' purchase.


  1. Identify the 'Card' purchase

  1. Click on the Charge #. You can also view the GL account Code to confirm which account in Newbook it is going too.

  1. If you would like to manually change the GL accound code, you can do this by launching VenueSumo's Back office. Settings> Locations> Account Details.

Here you can 'Edit' and select a new sub account.


How to test 'Cash' Payment method:


  1. Follow steps 1-3 in "How to Test 'Charge to Room' Payment Method:"

  1. Click the payment method 'Cash'


Next, open up 'Charges' page Newbook's back office in order to check your 'Cash' purchase.


  1. Identify the 'Card' purchase


  1. Click on the Charge #. You can also view the GL account Code to confirm which account in Newbook it is going too.
